CDA Course Enrollment Process

To qualify for the CDA Course, participants must:

  • Currently work in a licensed child care center or home program,

  • Have a high school diploma or GED,

  • Have a current First Aid/CPR Adult/Pediatric Certification,

  • Participate in an Entry Interview,

  • Pass a Reading Comprehension Test,

  • Submit required documents (Photo ID & Enrollment Form),

  • Submit a $75 Enrollment fee (at Course Registration, after Interview Process),

  • Commit to attend online training sessions, complete course work, and have a total of 120 clock hours of training before the end of the program, 

  • Agree to the Terms and Expectations of the CDA Program, and,

  • Have an account with MiRegistry.com.

To register for a class with Leaps & Bounds, applicants must take the following steps:​

  1. Sign up for a Site Membership on this website. (See Member Log-in bar above)

  2. Download the CDA Registration Checklist and follow the steps. Download the CDA Enrollment Form -- It must be typed!

  3. Upload a copy of your Driver's License, Diploma/GED, CPR & First Aid Certificates, and typed CDA Enrollment Form on the "My Files" section of the Membership Account page.  Please upload all files within 48 hours of signing up.

  4. Register for a CDA Online Entry Interview.

  5. After completing the steps above and you are ready to schedule the Online Entry Exam, send an email to cdasupport@leapsnbounds.org. We will contact you to schedule the exam.

  6. If you have passed the entry test, Register for the CDA Course.

  7. Agree to all Terms and Expectations of the CDA Program by signing the CDA Enrollment Form.

  8. Please note space is limited, please complete all steps to enroll ASAP.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is the program in person or virtual?

A. The courses are LIVE virtually.

 

Q. Will the program be taught in other languages besides English?

A. Not at this time, but we are looking to offer these options.

 

Q. How long is the program?

A. There are 12 sessions offered over the course of 5 months.

 

Q. What does the enrollment fee include?

A. The enrollment fee includes the cost of course materials.

    

Q. Is there a cost to take the test for the CDA Credential?

A. The cost for the CDA Exam is covered in the fees paid to the CDA Council. The cost of the program is $75.00 payable to Leaps and Bounds

 

Q. When am I eligible to take the test for the CDA Credential?

A. Candidates are eligible to apply for the CDA Credential which includes the CDA Exam once all requirements are met. Visit their website https://www.cdacouncil.org.

 

Q. When are the class materials available for the CDA Program?

A. There will be scheduled dates for Course Material pick up at Leaps and Bounds in Warren, MI.

 

Q. Can I pick the class materials up or will they be mailed to me?

A. All materials must be picked up.

 

Q. What documents do I need to enroll in the CDA program?

A. A digitally uploaded copy of each of the following:

  • Enrollment Form which is on the website

  • Proof of High School Completion (HS Diploma is preferred)

  • Current CPR/ First Aid which states Adult and Pediatric or Infant or Child

  • State of Michigan Photo ID or Driver's License

A. You will receive an email with next steps:

  • Course Materials pick-up dates

  • Zoom link for Course Sessions

  • Register for trainings offered by Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, on Miregistry.org

Refund & Cancellation Policy

The organization is unable to refund a course or membership once purchased.

Class sessions can be canceled up to 48 hours in advance with notice to the class instructor; the instructor will provide instructions on how to make up the class.

Please note that being fifteen (15) minutes late or leaving the session early will result in an absence for that session.
